(This really isn't as complicated as it looks.  I just like to be thorough)

Rifle Rods are a plastic rod with a Velcro™ head.  After installing the Loop Fabric Liner underneath the shelf in your gun safe, the Rifle Rods are ready to be used.  Drop the Rifle Rod down the barrel of your long gun, set the base on the floor, and pull up on the Rifle Rod until the two ends of Velcro attach.  The Rifle Rod acts as a stabilizing rod to hold your gun in the upright position.  When standing straight up, your guns will take up less space.  Need to see it to believe it?  Watch the Instructional Video to the right.  Double click on the center picture to see full screen on Youtube.com.

Detailed Instructions:

Step 1: Remove slotted gun rack.  TIP: If you wish to keep shelves on one side, you can brace vertical shelf standard with “corner iron” brackets. (not included)

Step 2: Remove lowest full-length shelf and attach loop fabric to the underside using a staple gun or tacks.  Space staples about 3 inches apart.

Step 3: Cut off excess loop fabric with razor knife or scissors.  If shelf is notched, staple scraps to the surface above notches.  You can run your longer guns through those slots and attach the rod to the surface above.  TIP: If this is to the safe’s ceiling, you may need to use construction adhesive and staples.

Step 4: Slip Rifle Rod down barrel of gun and place gun in desired location.  Ensure that gun is strait up and down with stock flat on floor of safe. Guns with tapered stocks may need to be shimmed to keep tension off rod heads.

Hints: Keep shelf as low as possible over guns. Ensure that rod is inside barrel deep enough to stabilize gun (about half way.)  For short guns, boost them up with something.
